Two-Day Family Friendly Itinerary in Ujjain in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple

    Start your day by visiting Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its unique Bhasma Aarti. In the morning, you can witness the Bhasma Aarti, which is performed by the temple priests using ash as an offering to Lord Shiva. After that, you can explore the temple complex and pay your respects to Lord Shiva. In the afternoon, you can visit the nearby Kaliadeh Palace, located on the banks of the Shipra river. The palace has a beautiful garden and offers a panoramic view of the river. In the evening, you can attend the Narmada Aarti at Ram Ghat, which takes place at sunset.

  2. Day 2: Vedh Shala Observatory

    Start your day early and visit the Vedh Shala Observatory, which was established in the 17th century by the Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur. The observatory has a collection of astronomical instruments and is still in use by the local astronomers. The temple is known for its unique rituals and devotees offer alcohol to the deity as a part of the worship. In the evening, you can visit the Chintaman Ganesh Temple, located on the banks of the Shipra river. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is known for its beautiful architecture.
