4-Day Itinerary for Jaisalmer in June 2023 - City Experiences

  1. Day 1: Jaisalmer Fort
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Jaisalmer Railway Station

    In the morning, explore the Jaisalmer Fort, one of the largest forts in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire the intricate carvings and architecture of the fort and visit the many temples, palaces, and havelis inside. In the afternoon, head to the Bada Bagh, a beautiful garden complex with cenotaphs of the royal family of Jaisalmer. Enjoy a peaceful walk around the gardens and soak in the serene atmosphere. In the evening, head to the Gadisar Lake, an artificial lake surrounded by beautiful temples and ghats. Take a boat ride and watch the sunset over the lake.

  2. Day 2: Patwa Haveli and Salim Singh ki Haveli
    20 minutes (1.2 miles) from Jaisalmer Fort

    In the morning, visit the Patwa Haveli, a cluster of five havelis built in the 19th century by a wealthy Jain merchant family. Marvel at the intricate carvings, paintings, and mirror work in the havelis. In the afternoon, head to the Salim Singh ki Haveli, a beautiful mansion with stunning architecture and intricate carvings. Explore the many rooms and courtyards of the haveli and learn about the history of the Salim Singh family. In the evening, head to the Thar Heritage Museum, which showcases the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the Thar Desert.

  3. Day 3: Kuldhara and Sam Sand Dunes
    1 hour 20 minutes (43 miles) from Jaisalmer

    In the morning, head to Kuldhara, an abandoned village with a fascinating history. Legend has it that the village was cursed and abandoned overnight by its inhabitants, who belonged to the Paliwal Brahmin community. Explore the ruins of the village and learn about its history and folklore. In the afternoon, head to the Sam Sand Dunes, a beautiful expanse of desert with rolling sand dunes. Enjoy a camel safari and watch the sunset over the dunes. In the evening, enjoy a cultural programme featuring Rajasthani folk music and dance performances.

  4. Day 4: Jain Temples and Desert National Park
    30 minutes (16 miles) from Sam Sand Dunes

    In the morning, visit the Jain Temples, a cluster of seven beautifully carved temples dedicated to different Jain Tirthankaras. Admire the intricate marble carvings and sculptures in the temples and learn about Jainism and its principles. In the afternoon, head to the Desert National Park, a vast expanse of desert that is home to a variety of wildlife such as blackbucks, chinkaras, and desert foxes. Enjoy a jeep safari and spot the many species of birds and animals that inhabit the park. In the evening, head back to Jaisalmer and enjoy a farewell dinner at one of the many rooftop restaurants in the city.
