3-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Girnari Parvat - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Girnar Darshan
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Junagadh Railway Station

    Start your day early and visit the Girnar Darshan temple complex. It is a collection of small and large temples. You can either climb the steps or use the ropeway facility to reach the temples. There are around 10,000 steps to climb, so it is advisable to wear comfortable shoes. Once you reach the top, you will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Junagadh and the surrounding landscape. Spend the afternoon exploring the wildlife sanctuary near the Girnar Hills. In the evening, head to the Panch Pandav Gufa, an ancient and mystical cave.

  2. Day 2: Mahabat Maqbara
    15 minutes (3.2 miles) from Girnar Darshan

    Begin your day by visiting the Mahabat Maqbara, an architectural marvel with intricate carvings and designs. Next, head to the Uperkot Fort, which dates back to the 4th century BC. Spend the afternoon at the Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden, which houses a vast array of wildlife, including lions, tigers, and elephants. End your day by visiting the Uparkot Caves, which are believed to be more than 2,000 years old.

  3. Day 3: Somnath Temple
    2 hours and 23 minutes (84.3 miles) from Uperkot Fort

    On your final day, head to the Somnath Temple, which is located on the Arabian Sea coast. This temple is one of the twelve jyotirlingas and has a rich history. Spend the afternoon at the Somnath Beach, which offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea. In the evening, attend the Aarti ceremony at the temple, which is a unique and unforgettable experience.
