After arriving at the Mathura Railway Station, you can check-in at your hotel near Gowardhan Hill. In the evening, start the Gowardhan Parikrama by night. The Parikrama is a 21 km circumambulation of the hill considered very auspicious by Hindus. The walk at night will be serene and peaceful. You will get to see the beauty of the hill under the starry night sky. You can take a guide who can explain the significance of each location along the way. The parikrama will take around 6-7 hours to complete. After completion, you can have dinner at one of the local outlets serving delicious vegetarian food.
After the overnight Parikrama, start early morning by visiting the Krishna Janmbhumi Temple. This temple is considered one of the holiest places by Hindus as it is the birthplace of Lord Krishna. The temple complex also has other smaller temples inside. After that, head towards Radha Rani Mandir. This temple is dedicated to Radha Rani, who is believed to be Lord Krishna's consort. The temple has intricate carvings and marble work, making it a sight to behold. You can also take a dip in the Radha Kund, which is considered holy as it is believed that Radha and Krishna danced here. After that, head back to your hotel for a late breakfast and check-out.
While in Mathura, do not miss out on trying the famous Mathura peda and Mathura lassi. You can also visit the Dwarkadheesh Temple and the Yamuna River Ghat. If time permits, you can also visit the nearby Vrindavan and Barsana, which are famous for their temples dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radha Rani.
