3-Day Itinerary for Nature Lovers in Binsar - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary
    10 minutes (4 km) from Binsar

    In the morning, take a guided tour of the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a vast range of flora and fauna. Here you can spot animals like Himalayan black bear, leopard, barking deer, and a variety of birds. In the afternoon, trek to Zero Point, which is the highest point in the sanctuary. From here, enjoy the panoramic view of the Himalayas. Finally, catch the sunset at Mary Budden Estate, a colonial bungalow located within the sanctuary.

  2. Day 2: Jageshwar
    1 hour 20 minutes (32 km) from Binsar

    In the morning, visit the ancient Jageshwar Temple complex, which dates back to the 9th century. This complex is comprised of over 100 Hindu temples built in the Nagara style of architecture. Afterward, take a nature walk in the Deodar Forest. In the evening, enjoy a bonfire at your hotel or campsite and stargaze.

  3. Day 3: Kausani
    1 hour 30 minutes (56 km) from Binsar

    In the morning, head to Kausani, also known as the "Switzerland of India." Here, enjoy the stunning views of 300 km wide Himalayan peaks at sunrise. Afterward, visit Baijnath Temple, which is located on the banks of the Gomti River and is one of the oldest temples in Uttarakhand. In the evening, visit Anashakti Ashram, where Mahatma Gandhi stayed for several days and wrote his commentary on the Bhagavad Gita.

Recommendations

If you have time, visit Kasar Devi Temple, which is located 13 km from Binsar and offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas. You can also take a day trip to the picturesque hill station of Almora, which is located 35 km from Binsar. In addition, you can go mountain biking or rock climbing in the nearby hills.
