Discovering Valparai in 2 days

  1. Day 1: Aliyar Dam

    The first day in Valparai can be spent exploring the Aliyar Dam and Park. Start with a morning visit to the park, where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the dam from the top. After lunch, take a boat ride in the dam reservoir and enjoy the scenic beauty of Aliyar. You can also visit the aquarium, which showcases various species of fish found in the Aliyar Dam. In the evening, relax in the park, surrounded by lush green trees and a cool breeze.

  2. Day 2: Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 20 minutes (39.5 km) from Valparai Town

    The second day can be spent exploring the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary. Start early in the morning and take a jeep safari ride in the sanctuary where you can spot various species of animals like the Nilgiri Tahr, Lion-Tailed Macaque, and the Indian Elephant. After the safari, visit the Koolangal River, which flows through the sanctuary. Enjoy the scenic beauty and take a dip in the river if you'd like. In the evening, visit the Valparai Bazaar and try some of the local delicacies.

Recommendations

Valparai is a beautiful hill station surrounded by tea estates and forest reserves. If you have more time, do consider visiting the tea factories where you can witness the processing of tea leaves or drive to Nallamudi Viewpoint to get a panoramic view of the Western Ghats. For a side trip, you can visit the Top Slip Anamalai Tiger Reserve, which is about 2 hours from Valparai.
