3-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Mahakal Ujjain in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mahakaleshwar Temple
    5 minutes (0.7 miles) from Ujjain Junction Railway Station

    Morning: Start your trip with a visit to Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its architectural beauty. You can also attend the Bhasma Aarti, a special ritual that takes place early in the morning.
    Afternoon: Head to Kalidasa Academy, a museum dedicated to the famous poet Kalidasa. The museum has a collection of manuscripts, paintings, and other artefacts related to Kalidasa's life.
    Evening: Visit Ram Ghat in the evening to witness the grand aarti ceremony on the banks of the river Shipra. The ghat is beautifully decorated during the ceremony and it's a mesmerizing experience.

  2. Day 2: Kaliadeh Palace and Vedh Shala Observatory
    20 minutes (5.6 miles) from Mahakaleshwar Temple

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to Kaliadeh Palace, situated on the banks of the Shipra river. The palace was built during the reign of the Scindias and has a beautiful garden and a water tank. You can also enjoy a boat ride in the Shipra river.
    Afternoon: Visit Vedh Shala, an ancient observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. The observatory has several astronomical instruments used to study the movement of stars and planets.
    Evening: Enjoy a light and sound show at the observatory which showcases the history and importance of the observatory.

  3. Day 3: Sandipani Ashram and ISKCON Temple
    30 minutes (7.3 miles) from Vedh Shala Observatory

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to Sandipani Ashram, an ancient ashram where Lord Krishna is believed to have studied. The ashram has a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and you can also visit the gurukul where students are trained in Vedic education.
    Afternoon: Visit ISKCON Temple, a spiritual and cultural center dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple has a beautiful architecture and is a great place to learn about the teachings of Lord Krishna.
    Evening: Attend the aarti ceremony at ISKCON Temple and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

Apart from the above-mentioned places, you can also visit the Harsiddhi Temple, Chintaman Ganesh Temple, and Mangalnath Temple.
