3-Day Tirupati Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit the Sri Venkateswara Temple
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Tirupati Airport

    In the morning, visit the Sri Venkateswara Temple, one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world. The temple is known for its magnificent Dravidian architecture and is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Afternoon can be spent exploring the surrounding areas of the temple like the Akashganga waterfalls, Papavinasanam and TTD Gardens. Finish off the day with the evening ceremony, which is a must-see.

  2. Day 2: Visit the Talakona Waterfalls and Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple
    2 hours (60 km) from Sri Venkateswara Temple

    After breakfast, drive to the Talakona Waterfalls, which are the highest waterfalls in Andhra Pradesh. The forest around the waterfalls is known for its medicinal plants and is home to rare species of animals like the Slender Loris. Stop for lunch at the nearby Haritha Hotel and then continue towards the Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple, a serene temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Spend the evening exploring the temple and its surroundings.

  3. Day 3: Visit the Sri Varahaswami Temple and Chandragiri Fort
    20 minutes (9 km) from Sri Kapileswara Swamy Temple

    Start the day by visiting the Sri Varahaswami Temple, one of the oldest temples in Tirupati. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu's boar incarnation and is believed to have been built in the 12th century. Afterward, visit the nearby Chandragiri Fort, which was built in the 11th century and has a rich history. Take a guided tour of the fort to learn about its past and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding forests and hills.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple and Srikalahasti Temple. There are also many local markets and street food vendors to explore in Tirupati, which are great for souvenir shopping and trying local cuisine. For a side trip, consider visiting the Horsley Hills, a hill station located about 150 km from Tirupati.
