3-Day Cultural Immersion Itinerary for Kedarnath, June 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit Kedarnath Temple
    5 minutes (0.2 miles) from Kedarnath Helipad

    In the morning, visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the Chota Char Dham temples and a revered Hindu shrine. Afternoon can be spent exploring the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a variety of flora and fauna. In the evening, witness the Aarti ceremony at the temple which is a sight to behold.

  2. Day 2: Explore Vasuki Tal and Bhairon Mandir
    1 hour (7.5 miles) from Kedarnath Temple

    In the morning, hike to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake with scenic views. Afternoon can be spent exploring the Bhairon Mandir, dedicated to Lord Bhairav, which is a short trek from the lake. In the evening, relax and rejuvenate in one of the natural hot springs.

  3. Day 3: Visit Triyuginarayan Temple and Sonprayag
    40 minutes (17.7 miles) from Vasuki Tal

    In the morning, visit the Triyuginarayan Temple which is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. Afternoon can be spent exploring the picturesque town of Sonprayag, situated on the banks of the Mandakini river. In the evening, enjoy local cuisine at one of the restaurants in Kedarnath.

Recommendations

A visit to the Gandhi Sarovar Lake and Gaurikund can be added to the itinerary. The trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath Temple is also a popular activity. For side trips, consider visiting the nearby towns of Guptkashi and Ukhimath. To maximize your fun, try camping under the stars in one of the many camping sites around Kedarnath. Lastly, do not forget to carry warm clothes and rain gear as Kedarnath experiences frequent rainfall and cold weather.
