Three-Day Shoestring Budget Itinerary for Goa in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Explore the Beaches of North Goa
    30 minutes (10.4 miles) from Goa International Airport

    In the morning, head to Baga Beach to enjoy water sports like parasailing, jet skiing and banana boat rides. Then, have lunch at one of the beach shacks serving fresh seafood. In the afternoon, visit the historic Aguada Fort, which offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea. Next, head to Anjuna Beach to witness the famous Wednesday Flea Market. In the evening, savor the nightlife at Tito's Lane, known for its clubs, bars and restaurants.

  2. Day 2: Discover the Heritage Sites of Central Goa
    1 hour (22.1 miles) from North Goa

    In the morning, visit the magnificent Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and see the preserved mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. Next, stop by the Se Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Asia. After lunch, head to the nearby St. Augustine Tower, a remnant of the Church of St. Augustine built in the 16th century. Then, explore the ruins of the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary in Old Goa. In the evening, take a stroll along the Mandovi River and watch the sunset.

  3. Day 3: Relax at South Goa's Beautiful Beaches
    1 hour 10 minutes (30.2 miles) from Central Goa

    In the morning, head to Colva Beach, one of the longest beaches in Goa, and take a dip in the Arabian Sea. Then, visit the nearby Our Lady of Mercy Church, which has beautiful stained glass windows. After lunch, head to Palolem Beach, known for its scenic beauty, and take a boat ride to witness the sun setting behind Butterfly Island. In the evening, visit the Cabo de Rama Fort and enjoy the stunning views of the sea and the surrounding hills.

Other local attractions worth visiting include the Dudhsagar Falls, the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary and the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary. For a side trip, consider visiting the Portuguese influenced Fontainhas neighborhood in Panaji or taking a trip to the neighboring state of Karnataka to visit the Gokarna Beaches. To maximize your fun, try bargaining at the local markets, sampling Goan cuisine and attending a traditional music and dance performance.
