3-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Puri in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit Jagannath Temple

    In the morning, visit the famous Jagannath Temple where you'll see the deities Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra. Afternoon can be spent shopping for traditional handicrafts such as applique work, patta paintings, and seashell items. In the evening, visit Puri Beach which offers a beautiful view of the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Explore Sun Temple and Chilika Lake
    1 hour 30 minutes (50 km) from Jagannath Temple

    Start your day early with a visit to the Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afternoon can be spent exploring the picturesque Chilika Lake, Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon and a famous bird-watching site. In the evening, enjoy a boat ride while watching the playful dolphins at Chilika Lake.

  3. Day 3: Trip to Raghurajpur and Dhauli Hill
    1 hour 15 minutes (38 km) from Chilika Lake

    In the morning, visit the heritage village of Raghurajpur, famous for its Pattachitra paintings, palm leaf engravings, and stone carvings. Afternoon can be spent visiting the Dhauli Hill, a significant Buddhist site famous for the Ashokan rock edicts and the Shanti Stupa. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing stroll at the serene Bindusagar Lake.

Other local attractions include the Puri Beach Festival (usually held in November), Chandrabhaga Beach, and the Atharnala Bridge.
