Exploring Nature on Siargao Island in 3 Days

  • Day 1: Sugba Lagoon

    Start your trip with a visit to Sugba Lagoon, a scenic body of water surrounded by lush foliage and limestone cliffs. Spend the morning kayaking or paddleboarding on the lagoon, then take a short hike to see the island's native plants and wildlife. Don't forget to take a dip in the crystal-clear waters of Sugba Lagoon before enjoying a seafood lunch supplied by local vendors.

  • Day 2: Magpupungko Beach and Tidal Pools
    30 minutes (22.2 km) from Sugba Lagoon

    Spend the day relaxing along the shore at Magpupungko Beach, and exploring the tidal pools and nearby rock formations. You can also find surf schools for those who want to hit the waves. End the day with a stunning sunset view and some cocktails from the bars lining the southern end of the beach.

  • Day 3: Sohoton Cove National Park
    2 hours (93 km) from Magpupungko Beach and Tidal Pools

    Although it’s a bit of a trek from your previous locations, Sohoton Cove National Park is worth the journey. Swim through the luminous cove and explore rocky islets, caves, and hidden lagoons filled with the island's unique flora and fauna. Enjoy lunch at the local cove while floating on a bamboo raft before heading back to town.

Transportation

Useful Tips

If you have more time, visit the beaches around General Luna where you can find more surfing schools; or the nearby island of Dinagat. If you have less time, remove Magpupungko from your itinerary and spend more time at the other destinations. It's also recommended to bring cash as many establishments do not accept credit cards.

Airports

Sayak Airport (IAO) is the main airport serving Siargao Island, located in the town of Del Carmen approximately 45 minutes away from General Luna. As of 2023, domestic airlines such as Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines offer direct flights from Manila, Cebu, and Davao. International travelers can fly to Manila or Cebu and connect to Siargao from there.
