2-Day Itinerary for Pondicherry in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Aurobindo Ashram
    10 minutes (1.5 km) from Pondicherry Railway Station

    The Aurobindo Ashram is a spiritual community founded by Sri Aurobindo in the early 20th century. Start your morning with a peaceful visit to the ashram. The ashram houses the samadhi of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, and you can attend their daily meditation sessions. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Auroville, an experimental township promoting human unity. You can explore the Matrimandir, a meditation center, and try some delicious organic food at the cafes. In the evening, visit the Promenade Beach, a 1.5 km long beachfront that offers a beautiful view of the Bay of Bengal. You can take a stroll or rent a bicycle to see the famous landmarks like the French War Memorial and the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.

  2. Day 2: Paradise Beach
    20 minutes (8.5 km) from Promenade Beach

    Start your day early and head to the Paradise Beach, a secluded beach accessible only by boat. The boat ride takes about 20 minutes and will drop you off at a stunning white sand beach. Spend your morning soaking up the sun, swimming in the crystal clear water, and enjoying the tranquility of the beach. After lunch, visit the Pondicherry Museum, which houses a collection of sculptures, artifacts, and archaeological findings from the region. In the evening, explore the French Quarter, a charming neighborhood with colorful buildings and beautiful architecture. Take a walk along the streets and visit the boutiques, art galleries, and cafes. You can end your day with a delicious dinner at any of the French restaurants.
