7-Day Adventure Itinerary for Kedarnath and Tungnath in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (0.5 miles) from Kedarnath Helipad

    Visit the holy Kedarnath Temple in the morning and experience the serene atmosphere. In the afternoon, take a trek to Vasuki Tal lake, which is located 8 km from Kedarnath. In the evening, attend the evening Aarti at the temple.

  2. Day 2: Gaurikund and Sonprayag
    30 minutes (18 km) from Kedarnath

    Embark on a trek from Kedarnath to Gaurikund, which is the starting point of the Kedarnath trek. Have lunch at Gaurikund and then travel to Sonprayag to witness the beautiful confluence of Basuki and Mandakini rivers. Spend the evening relaxing in the natural hot water springs of Gaurikund.

  3. Day 3: Tungnath Temple
    2 hours (44 km) from Kedarnath

    Travel to Tungnath and start trekking to the Tungnath Temple, which is the highest Shiva temple in the world. Enjoy the panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayas from the temple. In the afternoon, trek to Chandrashila peak for a breathtaking view of the mountains. Spend the evening camping at Chopta.

  4. Day 4: Deoriatal Lake

    Start early and drive to Kalimath, which is the starting point for the Madmaheshwar trek. Trek to Madmaheshwar Temple, which is surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Have lunch at the temple and then trek back to Kalimath. Spend the evening relaxing at the Kalimath hot water springs.

  6. Day 6: Kalimath and Ukhimath
    1 hour 30 minutes (30 km) from Kalimath

    Visit the Kalimath Temple in the morning and then travel to Ukhimath, which is known for its ancient temples. Visit the Omkareshwar Temple and the Kali Temple in Ukhimath. In the evening, you can go for a nature walk around the town.

  7. Day 7: Departure
    6 hours (200 km) from Ukhimath to Dehradun Airport

    Travel from Ukhimath to Dehradun Airport for your departure flight. On the way, you can stop at Rishikesh for river rafting and bungee jumping, if interested.
