4-Day Itinerary for Chopta, Uttarakhand in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Chopta
    3 hours (74 km) from Rishikesh

    Morning: After arriving in Chopta, check-in to your hotel or campsite and freshen up. Enjoy a hot breakfast and relax for a bit.

    Afternoon: Visit Tungnath Temple, which is one of the Panch Kedar and an important temple in Hindu Mythology. The trek to Tungnath is around 3.5 km from Chopta. It is a moderate trek and takes around 3-4 hours.

    Evening: Enjoy a stunning sunset at Chandrashila Peak. It is a 1.5 km trek from Tungnath. Chandrashila provides an unobstructed view of the Himalayas, including Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar Peak, Chaukhamba and many more.

  2. Day 2: Deoriatal Lake
    1 hour (20 km) from Chopta

    Morning: Visit Deoriatal Lake, which is considered to be a hidden gem in the Garhwal region. The trek to Deoriatal is around 2.3 km from Sari village. The trek is easy and takes around 1-2 hours.

    Afternoon: Explore the nearby village of Mastura, which is known for its apple and apricot orchards. You can also visit the Ukhimath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

    Evening: Relax at your hotel or campsite and enjoy a bonfire with some delicious local food.

  3. Day 3: Kalimath and Kartik Swami Temple
    2 hours (48 km) from Chopta

    Morning: Visit Kalimath Temple, which is dedicated to Goddess Kali. The temple is situated on the banks of the river Saraswati and is surrounded by lush green forests.

    Afternoon: Visit the Kartik Swami Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Kartikeya. The trek to Kartik Swami Temple is around 3 km from the base and takes around 2-3 hours.

    Evening: Stroll through the local market and buy some souvenirs to take back home.

  4. Day 4: Departure
    3 hours (95 km) from Chopta to Haridwar

    Morning: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and pack your bags.

    Afternoon: Visit the ancient town of Haridwar and take a dip in the holy Ganges river. You can also visit Har Ki Pauri, which is the most famous ghat in Haridwar.

    Evening: Depart for your onward journey.
