Volunteering in Goa - 2 Day Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit to Animal Shelter
    20 minutes (8.5 miles) from Goa International Airport

    Morning: Start the day by visiting the Animal Shelter in Goa. Spend the morning helping the staff with feeding, bathing, and taking care of the animals. You can interact with cats, dogs, and other small animals at the shelter.

    Afternoon: After lunch, take a tour of the shelter and learn about the rescue process. The staff will show how they take care of injured animals and prepare them for adoption. You can also donate or sponsor an animal if you wish to support the shelter.

    Evening: End the day by exploring the nearby Anjuna Beach. It is a popular tourist destination known for its white sand, blue water and scenic beauty. Relax on the beach and enjoy the sunset view with some drinks and snacks.

  2. Day 2: Working in a Local School
    40 minutes (11 miles) from Anjuna Beach

    Morning: Spend the day volunteering in a local school in Goa. You can help the teachers with teaching, playing with the students, and assisting in school activities. You can also teach any skill or knowledge you have to the children.

    Afternoon: Take a break from the school and explore the nearby spice plantation. You can take a guided tour of the plantation and learn about the various herbs and spices grown there. You can also shop for some fresh spices to take back home.

    Evening: End the day by taking a cruise on the Mandovi river. The cruise offers beautiful views of the scenic surroundings and Goan culture. You can enjoy some Goan music and dance performances on the cruise with some delicious Goan food.

Recommendations

If you have some more time, you can also visit the Butterfly Conservatory in Ponda, which is a one-hour drive from the Animal Shelter. It is a beautiful place where you can see different species of butterflies and learn about their life cycle.

You can also visit the Dudhsagar Waterfalls, which is a four-hour drive from Anjuna Beach. The falls offer a breathtaking view of the cascading water and lush green forests. You can enjoy a swim at the foot of the falls and take some memorable pictures.
