Weekend Gateway of Pune in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Shaniwar Wada Fort
    15 minutes (2.5 km) from Pune Railway Station

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the Shaniwar Wada Fort. It was once the seat of the Peshwas of the Maratha Empire. The fort is known for its architectural beauty. Also, don't miss the light and sound show that depicts the history of the fort.
    Afternoon: For lunch, head to the nearby restaurant. Try the authentic Maharashtrian dishes like Misal Pav and Vada Pav.
    Evening: Visit the nearby Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple. The temple is known for its rich history and is visited by devotees from all over India.

  2. Day 2: Lonavala and Khandala
    1 hour 30 minutes (66.5 km) from Shaniwar Wada Fort

    Morning: Start early and head to Lonavala and Khandala. These twin hill stations are known for their scenic beauty and pleasant weather. The famous tourist attractions in Lonavala are Tiger Point, Bhaja Caves and Visapur Fort.
    Afternoon: Have lunch at one of the many dhabas that serve delicious Maharashtrian food.
    Evening: Visit the nearby Karla Caves, a group of ancient Buddhist rock-cut caves. These caves are one of the oldest examples of Indian rock-cut architecture and are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
