4-Day Itinerary for Lucknow in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Bara Imambara
    20 minutes (5.7 km) from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport

    Start your day at Bara Imambara, an impressive architectural marvel built in 1784. Spend the morning exploring the complex's stunning maze of courtyards, halls and galleries, including the Asifi Mosque, Shahi Baoli and Bhool Bhulaiya. For lunch, try some of the local delicacies at the nearby Tunday Kababi. In the afternoon, head to the British Residency, a historic landmark and witness to one of India's most significant events. End your day with a visit to the Rumi Darwaza, a beautiful 60-feet tall gate.

  2. Day 2: Chattar Manzil and La Martiniere College
    15 minutes (3.2 km) from Bara Imambara

    Begin your day with a visit to Chattar Manzil, a stunning palace built in the 18th century. Explore the palace and its beautiful gardens. Then, head to the nearby La Martiniere College, a Gothic-style building that serves as a grand reminder of Lucknow's colonial past. For lunch, try some of the delicious Awadhi cuisine at Dastarkhwan. In the afternoon, head to the Ambedkar Memorial Park, a sprawling garden and the perfect place to relax. End your day with a visit to the Indira Gandhi Planetarium, where you can learn about the mysteries of the universe.

  4. Day 4: Lucknow Mahotsav and Aminabad
    25 minutes (6.3 km) from Indira Gandhi Planetarium

    If you're lucky enough to be in Lucknow during the annual Lucknow Mahotsav held in June, spend your final day here. The festival is a celebration of Lucknow's rich cultural heritage, and features music, dance, food and crafts. If not, explore the bustling streets of Aminabad, a shopper's paradise. For lunch, try some of the delicious chaat at Royal Café. In the afternoon, head to the Kaiserbagh Palace, a stunning palace built in the 19th century. End your day with a visit to the beautiful Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the Asafi Imambara, the Dilkusha Kothi Palace, or the Crocodile Sanctuary. A side trip to the nearby city of Ayodhya, a significant religious site, is also recommended. To maximize your fun, try attending a musical or theatrical performance or indulging in some shopping at the local markets.
