5-Day Himachal Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Shimla
    30 minutes (13.5 km) from Chandigarh International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Jakhu Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman located on a hilltop. After that, head to the Ridge, the central hub of Shimla, and explore the Gaiety Theater, Christ Church, and Shimla State Museum. In the evening, take a stroll along Mall Road, the main shopping street in Shimla, and enjoy the local food and shopping.

  2. Day 2: Manali
    6 hours (249 km) from Shimla

    In the morning, drive to Manali through the scenic Kullu Valley and visit the Naggar Castle along the way. After reaching Manali, explore the Hadimba Temple, a unique temple dedicated to Goddess Hadimba, and Vashisht Kund, a natural hot spring. In the evening, take a walk along the Mall Road and enjoy the local delicacies.

  3. Day 3: Rohtang Pass
    2 hours (51 km) from Manali

    Enjoy a full-day trip to Rohtang Pass, a high mountain pass surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Experience snow activities, such as skiing, snowboarding, and tubing, and enjoy the beautiful views of the Himalayas. Make sure to carry warm clothes and snacks with you.

  4. Day 4: Dharamshala

  5. Day 5: Dalhousie
    3 hours (117 km) from Dharamshala

    Drive to Dalhousie in the morning and visit the Khajjiar Lake, also known as the Mini Switzerland of India. Enjoy adventure activities such as zorbing, paragliding, and horse riding. After that, visit the Dainkund Peak, the highest peak in Dalhousie, and enjoy the breathtaking views from the top. In the evening, explore the local markets and try the local delicacies.

Recommendations

Don't miss experiencing the toy train ride from Kalka to Shimla. It takes around 5 hours and offers incredible views of the Himalayan range. You can also visit Kasauli, a small hill station near Shimla, and enjoy its natural beauty. Additionally, if you have more time, you can plan a trip to Amritsar to visit the Golden Temple or a trip to Leh to witness the beauty of Ladakh.
