Two-Day Itinerary for Taj Mahal Agra

  1. Day 1: Taj Mahal

    In the morning, we will visit the magnificent Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world. You will be amazed by the intricate details and beauty of this marble mausoleum built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife. In the afternoon, we will explore the Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which served as the residence of the Mughal Emperors. In the evening, we will visit the Mehtab Bagh, a beautiful garden across the Yamuna river, where you can witness a breathtaking view of the Taj Mahal during sunset.

  2. Day 2: Fatehpur Sikri
    40 minutes (22.4 miles) from Agra City Center

    In the morning, we will visit Fatehpur Sikri, a deserted city built by Mughal Emperor Akbar. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its stunning architecture, including the Buland Darwaza, one of the largest gateways in the world. In the afternoon, we will visit the Tomb of Itimad-Ud-Daulah, also known as the Baby Taj, an exquisite marble tomb built by Empress Nur Jahan in memory of her father. In the evening, we will take a stroll in the local market, where you can shop for souvenirs and taste some delicious street food.

Recommendations

If you have time, you can visit the Akbar's Tomb, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is located about 10 kilometers from Agra. You can also take a side trip to Mathura, a holy city for Hindus, which is about 60 kilometers from Agra. To maximize your fun, try to visit the Taj Mahal during sunrise or sunset, when the monument looks even more stunning. Finally, make sure to try the famous Agra Petha, a sweet made from ash gourd, which is a local specialty.
