5-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Ahmedabad, Gir Somnath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Sabarmati Ashram
    20 minutes (6.7 km) from Ahmedabad Railway Station

    In the morning, explore the peaceful and historic Sabarmati Ashram, which served as Mahatma Gandhi's home for over a decade. Learn about his life and philosophy, and see the original charkha (spinning wheel) he used to make his own clothes. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Sardar Patel National Memorial, dedicated to India's first Deputy Prime Minister, and learn about his contributions to India's freedom movement. In the evening, head to Kankaria Lake, a popular spot for boating and amusement park rides.

  2. Day 2: Gir National Park
    6 hours (350 km) from Sabarmati Ashram

    Take an early morning safari at Gir National Park, home to the majestic Asiatic lions, along with other wildlife such as leopards and wild boars. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Gir Interpretation Zone, where you can learn more about the park's biodiversity. In the afternoon, visit the adjacent Somnath Museum, which houses a collection of artifacts and sculptures related to the temple's history. In the evening, relax by the nearby Somnath Beach.

  4. Day 4: Bhalka Tirth and Prabhas Patan Museum
    30 minutes (10 km) from Somnath Temple

    Visit Bhalka Tirth, the site where Lord Krishna was accidentally shot by an arrow, and learn about the incident and its significance. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Prabhas Patan Museum, which houses a collection of sculptures, inscriptions, and artifacts related to the history of the region, including the Somnath Temple.
