4-Day Adventure Itinerary for Wayanad and Munnar in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
    2 hours 15 minutes (49.3 miles) from Calicut International Airport

    In the morning, set off for the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary to witness the lush green forest reserve and spot wild animals like elephants, tigers, and leopards. Take a Jeep Safari through the forest and feel the excitement of exploring the wilderness. In the afternoon, visit the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad, and indulge in trekking. Situated 8 km south of Kalpetta, it is one of the popular tourist attractions in Wayanad.   2. Day 2: Edakkal Caves and Soochipara Falls
    1 hour 20 minutes (26 miles) from Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

    In the morning, visit the Edakkal Caves, a prehistoric rock shelter formed naturally out of a strange disposition of three huge boulders. It is a perfect spot for adventure enthusiasts to indulge in trekking and explore the ancient inscriptions on the cave walls. Later, visit the Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall situated in the Vellarimala mountain range, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the surroundings. In the evening, head towards Munnar.

  3. Day 3: Eravikulam National Park and Safari

    Start the day with a visit to the Eravikulam National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, an exclusive mountain goat species of South India. Take a Safari through the park and witness the breathtaking views of the Western Ghats. In the afternoon, visit the Tea Museum, which showcases the history and evolution of tea plantations in Munnar.
