Gurgaon and Delhi - 3 Day Itinerary (July 2023)

  1. Day 1: Qutub Minar
    25 minutes (13.7 km) from Indira Gandhi International Airport

    Start your day by visiting one of Delhi's most famous landmarks, the Qutub Minar. This 73-metre tall tower is made of red sandstone and marble, and is surrounded by beautiful gardens and other historic buildings. In the morning, the tower is generally less crowded, so it's a great time to take photos and explore the area. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Mehrauli Archaeological Park, a vast area dotted with ruins of tombs, mosques and other ancient structures. In the evening, head to Cyber Hub in Gurgaon, a popular food and entertainment destination with a wide range of restaurants, bars and cafes to choose from.

  2. Day 2: Lotus Temple and India Gate
    30 minutes (13.4 km) from Cyber Hub

    Start your day by visiting the Lotus Temple, a beautiful temple shaped like a lotus flower. This temple is open to people of all religions and is a great place to meditate or simply admire the architecture. In the afternoon, head to India Gate, a war memorial located in the heart of Delhi. This impressive structure is surrounded by beautifully manicured lawns and is a popular spot for picnics, walks, and taking photos. In the evening, head to Hauz Khas Village, a trendy neighbourhood with lots of shops, cafes, and nightlife options.

  3. Day 3: Red Fort and Jama Masjid
    30 minutes (10.8 km) from Hauz Khas Village

    Start your day by visiting the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Delhi's most iconic landmarks. This impressive fortress was built in the 17th century and served as the residence of the Mughal emperors for nearly 200 years. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India. This beautiful mosque can accommodate up to 25,000 people and is known for its stunning architecture and intricate details. In the evening, head to Connaught Place, a popular shopping and dining destination in the heart of Delhi.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting Humayun's Tomb, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and a beautiful example of Mughal architecture. Other popular attractions include the Akshardham Temple, the National Museum, and the Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. For a side trip, consider visiting Agra to see the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. To maximize your fun, try to sample as much local cuisine as possible, from street food to fine dining. Finally, make sure to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen, as July in Delhi can be quite hot and humid.
