Assam Family Friendly Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kamakhya Temple
    15 minutes (2.5 miles) from Guwahati City Center

    Start your day early by seeking blessings at the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most revered shrines in India. Enjoy scenic views of the Brahmaputra River from the temple complex. Afternoon, try Assamese cuisine at Paradise Restaurant located nearby. In the evening, go on a short cruise on the river.

  2. Day 2: Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary
    3 hours (85 miles) from Guwahati

    Embark on an early morning jeep safari at Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary to spot the endangered one-horned rhinoceros. Afternoon, return to Guwahati and explore the Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden. In the evening, enjoy a cultural program at Kalakshetra.

  3. Day 3: Majuli Island

You can also consider visiting the Bura-Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary, the Nameri National Park, the Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary, the Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary and the Barapani Lake near Shillong. You can also plan a day trip to the nearby Meghalaya hill stations of Shillong, Cherrapunji or Mawlynnong to experience nature at its best.
