3-Day City Experience Itinerary for Pondicherry in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Promenade Beach
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Pondicherry Bus Stand

    Start your day at the famous Promenade Beach, also known as the Rock Beach, to witness the sunrise. Take a stroll along the 1.5 km long promenade and enjoy the sea breeze. After breakfast, visit the nearby Lighthouse and the French War Memorial. For lunch, head to the popular Le Cafe restaurant. In the afternoon, explore the French Quarter and its colorful buildings, such as the iconic Notre-Dame de Anges Church and the Pondicherry Museum. In the evening, visit the Manakula Vinayagar Temple and experience the lively local market nearby.

  2. Day 2: Auroville
    25 minutes (7.5 miles) from Promenade Beach

    Start your day early and head to Auroville, an experimental township founded in 1968. Visit the Matrimandir, a golden dome meditation center, and enjoy the serene atmosphere of the surrounding gardens. After breakfast, explore the town's eco-friendly practices and artistic community, with visits to the Visitors Centre and the boutiques selling handmade goods. For lunch, head to the Solar Kitchen, serving organic vegetarian food. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Auro beach and relax by the sea. In the evening, attend a cultural performance at the Bharat Nivas auditorium.

  3. Day 3: Chunnambar Boat House
