3-Day Itinerary for Hampi in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Hampi Bazaar
    10 minutes (3.7 km) from Hospet Junction railway station

    Morning: Start your day exploring Hampi Bazaar, the bustling market where you can find traditional handicrafts, clothes, and souvenirs. Take a walk towards the Virupaksha Temple, one of the most significant landmarks of Hampi.
    Afternoon: Visit the nearby monkey temple and admire the beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Later, head to the nearby Hemakuta Hill to enjoy a stunning sunset while savoring some delicious local snacks.
    Evening: End your day with a sound and light show at the 16th-century Vittala Temple, showcasing the history and glory of the Vijayanagara Empire.

  2. Day 2: Royal Center of Hampi
    20 minutes (5.5 km) from Hampi Bazaar

    Morning: Start your day by exploring the Royal Enclosure, which was once the residence of the royal family and their court. Visit the Mahanavami Dibba, an elevated structure that served as the King's platform to preside over ceremonies and military parades.

    Afternoon: Visit the Anjanadri Hill, which is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, the monkey god. The hill offers excellent trekking opportunities and breathtaking views of the area's natural beauty.
    Evening: End your day with a relaxing sunset walk along the banks of the Tungabhadra River, admiring the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, you can also visit the Hampi Archaeological Museum, which houses some of the most valuable artifacts from the Vijayanagara Empire. You can also consider taking a side trip to the nearby Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary to catch a glimpse of the endangered sloth bears in their natural habitat.
