Kedarnath 3-Day Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (2.3 km) from Sonprayag

    In the morning, visit the famous Kedarnath Temple, which is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The temple is located in the midst of scenic Himalayan ranges and is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, making the view breathtaking. After offering your prayers, head towards the Bhairava Temple, which is located nearby. In the afternoon, take a stroll around the temple complex to witness the beautiful scenery. Spend the evening exploring the local markets and trying out delicious local cuisine.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal
    1 hour 30 minutes (5.6 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Embark on a trek to the beautiful Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains and lush greenery. The trek is a bit strenuous, so it's best to start early in the morning. You can take a dip in the lake's icy cold water or just sit by the lake and enjoy the calm and peaceful surroundings. Return to Kedarnath by late afternoon and explore the local markets in the evening.

  3. Day 3: Chorabari Tal
    1 hour (3.5 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Take a short trek to Chorabari Tal, also known as Gandhi Sarovar, located at an altitude of 3,900 meters. The lake is named after Mahatma Gandhi, who visited the place in 1948 and was mesmerized by its beauty. Spend the morning exploring the lake and the surrounding areas. In the afternoon, head back to Kedarnath and visit the Shankaracharya Samadhi, which is located near the temple complex. Spend the evening exploring the local markets.

If you have some extra time, you can visit the beautiful Triyuginarayan Temple, which is located 25 km from Kedarnath. The temple is famous for its eternal flame, which is believed to have been burning since the time of Lord Shiva's marriage to Parvati. You can also explore the nearby town of Guptkashi, which is known for its ancient temples and scenic beauty. Another great option is to take a helicopter ride to the Kedarnath Temple from Phata or Guptkashi, which will give you a bird's eye view of the surrounding Himalayan ranges.
