Adventurous 2-Day Itinerary for Chikmagalur in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mullayanagiri Peak
    1 hour 30 minutes (37.8 km) from Chikmagalur town

    Morning: Start your day early with a trek to Mullayanagiri Peak, the highest peak in Karnataka. Enjoy the scenic views of the lush green coffee plantations and the spectacular sunrise from the peak. Don't forget to carry plenty of water and snacks for the trek.

    Afternoon: Take a break and head to the nearby Seethalayanagiri temple, situated at the highest point of the mountain range. The temple offers a panoramic view of the surrounding hills.

    Evening: Visit the Baba Budangiri Shrine, a sacred site for both Hindus and Muslims. Enjoy a cup of hot tea and snacks at the nearby stalls while you take in the stunning sunset.

  2. Day 2: Kudremukh National Park
    2 hours 20 minutes (97.2 km) from Chikmagalur town

    Morning: Embark on a nature walk in Kudremukh National Park, known for its rich flora and fauna. Keep your eyes peeled for the endangered lion-tailed macaques, tigers, and leopards. You can also indulge in some bird watching and spot species such as the Malabar trogon and the great Indian hornbill.

    Afternoon: Visit the nearby Hanuman Gundi Waterfalls and take a refreshing dip in the natural pool. Carry a change of clothes and don't forget to apply insect repellent.
