Mysuru, Ooty, and Kunnur Family-Friendly 7-Day Itinerary (July 2023)

1. Day 1: Mysuru
   30 minutes (14.6 km) from Mysuru Airport

   Start your trip with a visit to the magnificent Mysuru Palace, the heart of the city. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then explore the beautiful Brindavan Gardens in the afternoon. Finish the day with a visit to the Chamundeshwari Temple, located atop Chamundi Hills.

2. Day 2: Ooty
   3 hours and 30 minutes (126 km) from Mysuru

   Explore the beautiful Botanical Gardens in the morning and then take a ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Have lunch at a local restaurant and visit the Ooty Lake in the afternoon. End the day with a visit to the Doddabetta Peak to witness the mesmerizing sunset.

3. Day 3: Ooty
   30 minutes (10 km) from Ooty

   Visit the famous Pykara Falls in the morning and then head to the Pine Forest for a quick photoshoot. Have a relaxed lunch and then visit the Thread Garden to witness the beautiful handmade flower sculptures. In the evening, visit the Tea Museum to learn about the history of tea in the region.

4. Day 4: Kunnur
   4 hours and 30 minutes (155 km) from Ooty

   Explore the Kunnur Fort in the morning and then have lunch at a local restaurant. Visit the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in the afternoon, home to a variety of wildlife species. End the day with a visit to the beautiful Pookode Lake.

5. Day 5: Kunnur
   1 hour (45 km) from Kunnur

   Visit the Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Have lunch at a local restaurant and then visit the Edakkal Caves in the afternoon. Take a stroll through the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary in the evening to spot some wild animals.

6. Day 6: Mysuru
   3 hours and 30 minutes (135 km) from Kunnur

   Head back to Mysuru and visit the St. Philomena's Church, an architectural wonder. Have lunch at a local restaurant and then visit the Railway Museum to learn about the history of railways in India. In the evening, shop for souvenirs at the Devaraja Market.

7. Day 7: Departure
   30 minutes (14.6 km) from Mysuru

   Depart for the Mysuru Airport to catch your flight back home.

Recommendations

While in Ooty, you can also visit the Sim's Park, a botanical garden with more than a thousand plant species. If you have more time in Kunnur, consider taking a side trip to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. To maximize your fun, try some of the local street food like the Mysuru Masala Dosa and the Kunnur Biryani. Don't forget to carry sunscreen and insect repellent.
