Banff Adventure Itinerary - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Johnston Canyon Trail
    10 minutes (6.5 km) from Banff town

    Start your adventure with a hike on the Johnston Canyon Trail. This popular trail takes you through a scenic canyon with numerous waterfalls, including the stunning Lower and Upper Falls. The trail is 6 km round trip and takes around 2-3 hours to complete. Be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring plenty of water.

  2. Day 2: Banff Gondola & Sulphur Mountain
    17 minutes (7.5 km) from Johnston Canyon Trail

    Take a scenic gondola ride up to the top of Sulphur Mountain for panoramic views of Banff National Park. You can also hike the Sulphur Mountain Trail to the summit if you're feeling adventurous. At the top, visit the interactive exhibits at the Banff Summit Experience and grab a bite to eat at the restaurant. The gondola operates from 9 am to 9 pm.

  3. Day 3: Moraine Lake & Larch Valley Trail
    45 minutes (32 km) from Banff Gondola

    Visit the stunning turquoise waters of Moraine Lake, located in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. Take a leisurely stroll around the lake or hike the Larch Valley Trail, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The hike is 12 km round trip and takes around 4-6 hours to complete. Be sure to arrive early as the parking lot fills up quickly during peak season.

  4. Day 4: Lake Louise & Plain of Six Glaciers Trail
    20 minutes (13 km) from Moraine Lake

    Visit the iconic Lake Louise and hike the Plain of Six Glaciers Trail. This 14 km round trip hike takes you through stunning alpine scenery with views of glaciers and mountains. Stop for refreshments at the historic Plain of Six Glaciers Tea House before completing the hike. The tea house is open from early June to early October.

  5. Day 5: Bow River & Canoeing
    30 minutes (19 km) from Lake Louise

    End your adventure with a peaceful canoe ride on the Bow River. Canoes can be rented from the Banff Canoe Club and no prior experience is necessary. The Bow River is a calm and gentle river with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forests. Be sure to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it on one of the many quiet beaches along the river.

If you have time, consider visiting the nearby town of Canmore for some delicious food and local shopping. You may also want to take a day trip to the nearby Yoho National Park to see the stunning Takakkaw Falls and hike the Iceline Trail.
