7-Day Itinerary for Meghalaya in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Shillong
    30 minutes (10 km) from Shillong Airport

    Explore the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures which showcases the rich and varied indigenous cultures of Northeast India. Walk around Ward's Lake in the afternoon and enjoy a boat ride. In the evening, visit the Elephant Falls, a three-tier waterfall, located just outside the city.

  2. Day 2: Living Root Bridges, Cherrapunji
    2 hours (55 km) from Shillong

    Take a morning drive to Cherrapunji, the wettest place on earth. Visit the Mawkdok Dympep Valley Viewpoint en route. Explore the Living Root Bridges of Cherrapunji in the afternoon and learn about the traditional Khasi way of building these bridges. In the evening, relax in the cozy homestays in the area.

  3. Day 3: Mawlynnong Village and Dawki
    3 hours (90 km) from Cherrapunji

  7. Day 7: Mawsynram
    2 hours (70 km) from Jowai

    Visit Mawsynram, the wettest place on earth and witness the spectacular natural beauty of the place. Visit the Mawjymbuin Cave, a limestone cave, that houses a unique Shiva Linga. Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Laitlum Canyon, David Scott Trail, or the Mawphlang Sacred Forest. Take a side trip to the neighboring state of Assam and visit the Kaziranga National Park or the Manas National Park. To maximize your fun, try the local cuisine like Jadoh, Tungrymbai, and Doh Khleh.
