Two-Day Cultural Immersion Itinerary for Somnath Temple in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Somnath Temple
Located in Prabhas Patan, 10 minutes (4.4 km) from Somnath Railway Station

Morning: Begin your day with a visit to the Somnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus. Witness the morning aarti (worship ritual) that takes place at 7:00 am. After the aarti, take a stroll in the temple complex to explore the intricate architecture and learn about the history of the temple.

Afternoon: After lunch, head to the nearby Triveni Sangam, where three rivers - Hiran, Kapila, and Saraswati - meet. Take a dip in the holy waters and offer prayers to the divine forces. The Triveni Sangam is also an excellent spot for photography, with a picturesque view of the Arabian Sea in the background.

Evening: End your day with a visit to the Geeta Mandir, located inside the temple complex. The mandir is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is adorned with beautiful paintings depicting scenes from the Bhagavad Gita. Attend the evening aarti at 7:00 pm and immerse yourself in the spiritual atmosphere.

  2. Day 2: Bhalka Tirtha and Veraval Beach
Bhalka Tirtha - 10 minutes (3.9 km) from Somnath Temple; Veraval Beach - 20 minutes (6.8 km) from Bhalka Tirtha

Morning: Start your day with a visit to Bhalka Tirtha, located close to the Somnath Temple. The tirtha marks the spot where Lord Krishna was accidentally hit by a hunter's arrow and attained moksha (salvation). Enter the temple and witness the statue of Lord Krishna in the final moments of his life.

Afternoon: After lunch, head to Veraval Beach, a serene and peaceful beach situated a short distance from Bhalka Tirtha. Take a stroll along the beach, soak in the sun and grab a refreshing coconut water from one of the many vendors.

Evening: End your trip with a visit to the Bhidbhanjan Mahadev Temple, situated near Veraval Beach. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to have been built by the Pandavas during their exile. Attend the evening aarti at 7:00 pm and seek blessings from the almighty.
