Two-Day Itinerary for Kudrmukh in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kudremukh National Park
    30 minutes (13.5 km) from Kudremukh town

    In the morning, visit the Kudremukh National Park, a protected area located in the Western Ghats of Karnataka. The park is a biodiversity hotspot with a wide range of flora and fauna, including several endemic species. Take a guided trek to the Kudremukh peak, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. In the afternoon, visit the Hanuman Gundi waterfalls, a picturesque spot amidst the lush green forests of the Western Ghats. In the evening, explore the nearby Kudremukh town and try some of the local delicacies.

  2. Day 2: Kalasa
    1 hour 20 minutes (40.9 km) from Kudremukh town

    In the morning, drive to Kalasa, a quaint town located amidst the verdant hills of the Western Ghats. Visit the Kalaseshwara Temple, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Take a leisurely walk around the town and soak in the serene atmosphere. In the afternoon, visit the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, a protected area located in the Western Ghats. Take a jeep safari to explore the sanctuary and spot a variety of wildlife, including tigers, elephants, leopards, and deer. In the evening, enjoy a cup of hot coffee at one of the local cafes.

Recommendations

While in Kudremukh, don't miss a visit to the Mullayanagiri peak, the highest peak in Karnataka. You can also explore the nearby coffee and tea plantations and learn about the process of coffee and tea-making. If you have time, you can take a side trip to the nearby coastal town of Udupi and visit the famous Krishna Temple. To maximize your fun, try some of the adventure activities in Kudremukh, such as rock climbing, rappelling, and mountain biking.
