2-Day Dharamshala City Experiences Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: St. John in the Wilderness Church
    10 minutes (3 km) from Dharamshala Bus Stand

    Begin your day at St. John in the Wilderness Church. Built-in 1852, the church is nestled amidst deodar trees. You can witness the Gothic-style architecture and the Belgian stained glass windows. Take a walk in the churchyard, which houses the graves of British soldiers who fought in the Second World War. In the afternoon, you can visit the War Memorial and Museum, located 5 minutes away. The museum displays the history of the wars India fought in and the lives of brave soldiers. In the evening, head to the Sunset Point to catch the sunset view of the Dhauladhar range.

  2. Day 2: Kangra Fort
    1 hour (23 km) from Dharamshala Bus Stand

    Start your day by visiting the Kangra Fort, located on the outskirts of the city. It is one of the oldest forts in India, dating back to the 4th century BCE. The fort has been ruled by several dynasties, including the Katoch dynasty. You can witness the temples, palaces, and the museum inside the fort. In the afternoon, head to the Norbulingka Institute, located 30 minutes away. The institute is dedicated to preserving Tibetan culture and art. You can witness the art and craft-making processes and take a stroll in the beautiful gardens. In the evening, you can head to the Masroor Rock Cut Temple, located 1 hour away. The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage site and dates back to the 8th century.

If you have extra time, you can visit the Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, located 20 minutes away. It is one of the highest cricket stadiums in the world and offers a breathtaking view of the Dhauladhar range. You can also take a trip to the McLeod Ganj, the residence of the 14th Dalai Lama. It is located 20 minutes away and offers a cultural experience. You can also visit the Bhagsu Waterfall, located 30 minutes away. If you want to maximize your fun, you can take a trek to the Triund Hill, which offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas. Don't forget to try the local cuisine, including momos and thukpa.
