Kedarnath Family-Friendly 7-Day Itinerary from Mumbai - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Reach Kedarnath
    15 minutes (3 miles) from Kedarnath Airport

    After arriving in Kedarnath, take a taxi to your hotel and spend the day exploring the local area. Visit the Kedarnath Temple and enjoy the beautiful views of the Himalayas. Have a delicious Indian dinner at a nearby restaurant.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal Trek
    1 hour 20 minutes (8 miles) from Kedarnath

    Start your day early and drive to Kedarnath Helipad, from where you'll start your trek to Vasuki Tal. The trek is moderate, and you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the glacial lake at the end of the trail. Enjoy a packed lunch and make your way back to Kedarnath by late afternoon.

  3. Day 3: Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary
    30 minutes (10 miles) from Kedarnath

    Spend the day exploring the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. Take a jeep safari and spot animals like musk deer, bharal (blue sheep), and Himalayan tahr. Visit the Gaurikund Temple and take a dip in the hot springs. Head back to Kedarnath in the evening.

  4. Day 4: Gaurikund to Badrinath
    2 hours 30 minutes (60 miles) from Kedarnath

    Check out of your hotel in Kedarnath and drive to Badrinath. On the way, visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, the place where Lord Shiva and Parvati got married. Visit the Mana Village, the last village on the Indian side of the Indo-China border. Check in to your hotel in Badrinath for the night.

  5. Day 5: Badrinath Temple and Tapt Kund
    15 minutes (1 mile) from Badrinath

    Start your day with a visit to the Badrinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu shrines. Take a dip in the Tapt Kund, the hot water springs near the temple, known for their healing properties. Spend the rest of the day exploring the town and its surroundings.

  6. Day 6: Valley of Flowers Trek
    1 hour 40 minutes (42 miles) from Badrinath

    Drive to Govindghat and start your trek to the Valley of Flowers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The trek is moderately challenging, and you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the valley and its vibrant flowers. Enjoy a packed lunch and make your way back to Govindghat by late afternoon.

  7. Day 7: Departure from Kedarnath
    30 minutes (10 miles) from Kedarnath

    Check out of your hotel and drive to Kedarnath Airport for your flight back to Mumbai.

Other local attractions to consider include the Rudra Cave and Gandhi Sarovar. Side trips to Hemkund Sahib and Auli are also highly recommended. To maximize your fun, try the local street food and buy souvenirs from the local shops. Don't forget to carry warm clothes, raincoats, and comfortable shoes for the treks.
