3-Day Itinerary for Dharamshala in September 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit Namgyal Monastery
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from McLeod Ganj

    In the morning, head to Namgyal Monastery, which is the largest Tibetan temple outside of Tibet. You can witness monks chanting their prayers and performing their daily rituals. In the afternoon, you can visit the Tibet Museum and learn about Tibetan history and culture. In the evening, explore the local markets in McLeod Ganj and try traditional Tibetan dishes such as momos and thukpa.

  2. Day 2: Hike to Triund
    9.5 kilometers from McLeod Ganj

    In the morning, start the hike to Triund, a beautiful hill station situated at an altitude of 2,828 meters. The 9-kilometer trek offers stunning views of the Dhauladhar ranges. You can have lunch at one of the local cafes in Triund. In the evening, head back to McLeod Ganj and visit the Bhagsu Nag temple and waterfall.

  3. Day 3: Visit Kangra Fort and Masroor Rock Cut Temple
    30 minutes (20 km) from McLeod Ganj

    In the morning, take a drive to Kangra Fort, which dates back to the 4th century BC. The fort has witnessed many battles and is a great place to learn about the history of the region. In the afternoon, visit the Masroor Rock Cut Temple, a unique temple carved out of a single rock. In the evening, head back to McLeod Ganj and enjoy the local cuisine at one of the restaurants.

Other attractions to consider visiting include the Dalai Lama Temple, Norbulingka Institute, and Dharamshala Cricket Stadium.
