Start your day with a visit to the Hemis National Park, home to the elusive snow leopard, Asiatic ibex, and Tibetan wolf. The park covers 4,400 sq. km and is the largest national park in South Asia. You can also go on a guided trek to experience the park's natural beauty.
Pangong Tso Lake is a breathtaking high-altitude lake that stretches for over 134 km across the border between India and China. The blue-green waters of the lake are a sight to behold and make for a perfect family picnic spot. You can also take a dip in the lake, but it can get quite chilly.
Thiksey Monastery is one of the largest and most picturesque monasteries in Ladakh. Located atop a hill, the monastery provides a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding mountain ranges. You can also witness the prayer ceremonies and explore the various stupas and temples within the complex.
End your day with a visit to the Shanti Stupa, a white-domed Buddhist stupa located on a hilltop. The stupa provides a magnificent view of Leh town and the surrounding mountain ranges. Built by a Japanese Buddhist organization, the stupa is a symbol of peace and harmony.
If you have more time, you can visit the Leh Palace, which offers great views of the town and houses an interesting museum showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh. You can also go on a camel safari at the Hunder Sand Dunes in Nubra Valley or take a day trip to the Alchi Monastery. Don't forget to try Ladakhi cuisine, which includes momos, thukpa, and butter tea.
