5-Day Volunteering Itinerary in Haridwar in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Ganga Aarti
    5 minutes (1.2 km) from Har Ki Pauri

    In the morning, you can start your day by offering prayers at the Har Ki Pauri Ghat. After that, you can volunteer to help clean the banks of the river Ganges. In the afternoon, you can visit the Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, a spectacular ritual that takes place every evening. In the evening, you can explore the local markets and try some street food.

  2. Day 2: Rajaji National Park
    1 hour 30 minutes (53 km) from Har Ki Pauri

    Spend your day volunteering at the Rajaji National Park, which is home to a variety of wildlife such as tigers, leopards, and elephants. You can work with the park rangers in maintaining the park and learning about the conservation efforts. In the evening, return to Haridwar and visit the Chandi Devi Temple to offer your prayers.

  3. Day 3: Mansa Devi Temple
    15 minutes (5.5 km) from Chandi Devi Temple

    Volunteer at an animal shelter in the morning or help clean up the streets of Haridwar. In the afternoon, visit the Mansa Devi Temple, located on top of a hill. Take the cable car ride to the temple and enjoy the panoramic views of the city. In the evening, attend the daily Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan Ashram.

  4. Day 4: Patanjali Yogpeeth
    45 minutes (25 km) from Mansa Devi Temple

    In the morning, volunteer at the Patanjali Yogpeeth, an Ayurvedic institute that promotes holistic healing and organic farming. You can work in the gardens or help with the daily activities. In the afternoon, visit the Maya Devi Temple and take a dip in the holy river. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat.

  5. Day 5: Neer Garh Waterfall
    1 hour 30 minutes (50 km) from Triveni Ghat

    Spend your day volunteering at an environmental organization that works towards protecting the natural resources of the region. In the afternoon, head to Neer Garh Waterfall, a secluded waterfall located in the Rajaji National Park. Enjoy the scenic views and take a refreshing dip in the cool waters. In the evening, explore the local markets and do some souvenir shopping.

Recommendations

You can also visit the Chilla Wildlife Sanctuary and volunteer in the conservation efforts there. For side trips, you can visit Rishikesh which is known as the Yoga Capital of the World. You can also try white water rafting in the Ganges river. To maximize your fun, try participating in some adventure sports like bungee jumping or ziplining.
