In the morning, we will begin our nature excursion by visiting Manjarabad Fort. This fort was constructed by Tippu Sultan in 1792 and is surrounded by lush green forests. It's an ideal place to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Western Ghats. In the afternoon, we will visit the Mallalli Falls. This waterfall is situated in the foothills of the Pushpagiri Mountains and is at its best during the monsoon season. In the evening, we will explore the Kote Betta Hill. It is a perfect spot for nature lovers and trekkers, offering mesmerizing views of the surrounding valleys and hills.
On day 2, we will start early in the morning and head towards the Dubare Elephant Camp. It's a natural habitat for elephants situated on the banks of the river Cauvery. Here, you can watch elephants being bathed, fed, and trained. In the afternoon, we will visit the Harangi Dam. It's a serene spot with a beautiful view of the mountains and forests. In the evening, we will head back to Shakleshpura and enjoy the tranquillity of nature.
While in Shakleshpura, you can also consider visiting the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, Bisle Ghat, and Kukke Subramanya Temple. For a side trip, you can explore the nearby Chikmagalur town, which is famous for its coffee plantations and scenic views. To maximize your fun, you can plan a trek to the Kumara Parvatha Peak, which is the second-highest peak in Karnataka. Don't forget to try the local cuisine, especially the famous "Kadabu" and "Neer Dosa".
