4-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Mathura, Vrindavan, Govardhan, Barsana, Gokul, Brij in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mathura
    10 minutes (3.2 km) from Vrindavan

    Morning: Start your trip with a visit to the Shri Krishna Janmasthan Temple, the birthplace of Lord Krishna. You can also visit Dwarkadhish Temple, which is one of the oldest and largest temples in Mathura. Afternoon: Head to the Mathura Museum to learn about the city's rich history and culture. Later, visit the Vishram Ghat, where Lord Krishna is said to have rested after killing the demon Kansa. Evening: Attend the spectacular Ganga Aarti ceremony at the Vishram Ghat, which takes place at sunset.

  2. Day 2: Vrindavan and Govardhan
    30 minutes (18.5 km) from Mathura

    Morning: Begin your day with a visit to the Banke Bihari Temple, one of the most popular temples in Vrindavan. Later, visit the ISKCON Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Radha. Afternoon: Head to Govardhan to visit the Govardhan Hill, which is considered a sacred pilgrimage site. Evening: Return to Vrindavan to visit Prem Mandir, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Krishna.

  3. Day 3: Barsana and Gokul
    1 hour 15 minutes (50.5 km) from Vrindavan

    Morning: Visit Barsana, the birthplace of Radha, and explore the Radha Rani Temple and Barsana Dham. Afternoon: Head to Gokul, the childhood home of Lord Krishna, and visit the Gokulnanda Temple and the Kesi Ghat. Evening: Attend the beautiful Gokul Mahotsav, a cultural festival that celebrates Lord Krishna's childhood in Gokul.

  4. Day 4: Brij
    40 minutes (25.8 km) from Gokul

    Morning: Take a scenic drive through the Brij region and visit the Nandgaon temple, where Lord Krishna's father, Nanda Maharaja, lived. Afternoon: Visit Radha Kund and Shyama Kund, two sacred lakes associated with Lord Krishna and Radha. Evening: Attend the Braj Ki Holi festival, a colorful and lively celebration of the festival of colors.

Recommendations

If you have additional time, you can also visit the Kusum Sarovar, the Radha Damodar Temple, and the Prem Sarovar in Vrindavan. A side trip to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal is also a great option.
