Upon arrival at Jammu Airport, head to Katra, the base camp for Vaishno Devi Yatra. Check-in at your hotel and take some rest. Later in the day, visit the Banganga Temple, which is the starting point of the Yatra. You can also visit the nearby Ardh Kuwari Cave. In the evening, explore the local markets and enjoy some local delicacies.
Early in the morning, begin the Yatra to the Holy Shrine of Vaishno Devi. The 13.5 km trek can be completed by foot or by horse, palki, or helicopter. The trek takes around 6-8 hours depending on your pace. After seeking blessings, return back to Katra in the evening.
On day 3, visit Shivkhori, a cave shrine of Lord Shiva. The shrine is located inside a cave with a naturally formed lingam. After paying your respects at Shivkhori, head towards Baba Dhansar, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush green forests. You can also visit the Baba Dhansar temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Return back to your hotel in Katra in the evening.
On the last day, check out of your hotel and head back to Jammu Airport for your flight back home.
If you have extra time, you can explore the nearby town of Patnitop, which is known for its natural beauty and adventure sports like trekking, paragliding, and skiing. Another popular side trip is to the holy town of Amritsar, which is famous for the Golden Temple. To make the most of your trip, it is recommended to start the Yatra early in the morning to avoid the rush. Also, carry enough water and snacks for the trek. Finally, don't forget to take the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi for a safe and memorable journey.
