3-Day Itinerary for Puri in September 2023

  1. Day 1: Jagannath Temple

  2. Day 2: Chilika Lake

    In the morning, head to Chilika Lake, the largest brackish water lake in Asia. Take a boat ride and spot some of the migratory birds that visit the lake in September. In the afternoon, visit Raghurajpur Artist Village, located on the banks of the Bhargavi River. This village is famous for its Pattachitra paintings and traditional crafts. In the evening, return to Puri and watch the sunset at the beach.

  3. Day 3: Konark Sun Temple

    In the morning, visit the Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This temple is dedicated to the Sun God and is shaped like a giant chariot with 12 pairs of wheels. In the afternoon, visit the Pipili Village, famous for its applique work. Buy souvenirs and gifts for your loved ones. In the evening, attend the Sand Art Festival, held annually in September at the Puri Beach. Marvel at the intricate sand sculptures created by artists from around the world.

If you have extra time, you can visit the Gundicha Temple, located 3 km from the Jagannath Temple. It is believed that Lord Jagannath stays at this temple for a week during the Rath Yatra festival. You can also visit the Sakhigopal Temple, located 20 km from Puri. This temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is known for its beautiful architecture.
