Dantewada Cultural Immersion Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Visit to Danteshwari Temple
    30 minutes (6.5 miles) from Dantewada bus stand

    In the morning, visit the Danteshwari Temple, one of the 52 shaktipeeths in India. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Danteshwari, who is believed to be the protector of the Bastar region. Built in the 14th century, the temple's architecture is a mix of Nagara and Dravidian styles. In the afternoon, head to the Bastar Tribal Museum, which showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Bastar tribes. The museum has a collection of tribal art, handicrafts, and artifacts. In the evening, enjoy a traditional tribal dance performance called "Pandwani" which narrates the epic of Mahabharata through music and dance.

  2. Day 2: Visit to Chitrakote Waterfalls
    2 hours 20 minutes (70 miles) from Dantewada

    In the morning, visit the Chitrakote Waterfalls, also known as the "Niagara Falls of India". The waterfalls are located on the Indravati River and are about 100 feet high. The waterfalls are surrounded by lush green forests and are a popular picnic spot for locals. In the afternoon, visit the Kanger Valley National Park, which is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. The park is also home to the Tirathgarh Waterfalls, which are about 100 feet high. In the evening, head back to Dantewada and explore the local markets, which sell a variety of tribal handicrafts and souvenirs.

If you have some extra time, visit the Barsoor archaeological site, which has ruins of ancient temples dating back to the 10th century. You can also go on a trek to the Bodhghat Sath Dhar waterfalls, which are located in the nearby Kondagaon district.
