Transportation

Most travelers will need a car or a van to get around the Dolomites. There are buses and trains, but they are not always convenient as they run infrequently. Hiring a car can cost up to $40-70 per day depending on the size and rental period you negotiate, and you’ll spend around $160 in total on fuel during the 15-day adventure. Travelers can also use ride-sharing services like Uber or Bla Bla Car which can be convenient and cost-saving depending on route and travel party size.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, consider visiting the nearby cities of Verona or Bolzano, tasting the local cuisine, and enjoying the cultural events. If you have fewer days to visit, cut out some of the spots that are not as important to you, or speed up the itinerary a bit if you are comfortable with more activity.

Airports

The Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) is the closest airport to the Dolomites. It is around 2 hours and 20 minutes drive to Cortina d'Ampezzo. Treviso Airport (TSF) is another option, though, it is a bit further around 2 hours and 40 minutes drive to Cortina d'Ampezzo.
