After visiting the temple, head to the nearby Puri Beach, which is known for its golden sands and clear waters. If you're lucky, you might even spot some Olive Ridley turtles that nest on the beach between November and December.

Next up, drive down to Chilika Lake, which is the largest coastal lagoon in India and a bird watcher's paradise. The lake is also home to several picturesque islands, including Honeymoon Island and Breakfast Island, which are worth a visit.

  4. 4:00PM: Konark Sun Temple
1 hour 10 minutes (35 miles) from Chilika Lake

End your day with a visit to the Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to the 13th century. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu sun god, Surya, and is famous for its intricate carvings and architecture. Do note that the temple is closed on Fridays.

If you have some extra time on your hands, you can consider visiting the nearby Raghurajpur Artist Village, which is known for its traditional Pattachitra paintings. You can also take a side trip to the nearby town of Bhubaneswar, which is home to several ancient Hindu temples, including the famous Lingaraj Temple.
