4-Day Spiti Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kaza
    From Manali, drive 201 km (7 hours and 28 minutes)

    Arrive in Kaza, the sub-divisional headquarters of Spiti Valley, in the afternoon. Start by visiting the Kaza Monastery, the largest and oldest monastery in Spiti. It houses several ancient murals, thangkas, and manuscripts. Then, head to the nearby Sakya Tangyud Monastery for a stunning view of Kaza. In the evening, take a stroll around the Kaza market and try some local cuisine.

  2. Day 2: Key Monastery and Kibber Village
    From Kaza, drive 16 km (33 minutes)

    Start your morning with a visit to the Key Monastery, one of the most iconic landmarks in Spiti. Watch the morning prayers and explore the various rooms and halls of the monastery. Afterward, head to Kibber Village, located at a height of 4,205 meters above sea level. Take a short hike to the Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary and spot the elusive snow leopard, ibex, and blue sheep. Return to Kaza in the evening for dinner.

  3. Day 3: Pin Valley and Mudh Village
    From Kaza, drive 32 km (1 hour and 7 minutes)

    Drive to the Pin Valley National Park, located at an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level. The park is home to several endangered species such as the snow leopard, Siberian ibex, and Tibetan gazelle. Take a short hike to the Pin Valley Monastery, also known as the Kungri Monastery. Continue your journey to Mudh Village, a quaint and picturesque village surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Have lunch at a local restaurant and spend the afternoon exploring the village. Return to Kaza in the evening.

  4. Day 4: Langza and Hikkim Village
    From Kaza, drive 14 km (30 minutes)

    Start your day by driving to Langza Village, located at an altitude of 4,400 meters above sea level. The village is known for its ancient fossils, which are believed to be more than 100 million years old. Visit the Langza Buddha Statue, a 1000-year-old statue of Lord Buddha. Continue your journey to Hikkim Village, which houses the world's highest post office. Send a postcard to your loved ones and enjoy a cup of tea at the nearby tea shop. Return to Kaza in the evening.
