2-Day Itinerary for Jaisalmer in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Jaisalmer Fort
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Jaisalmer Railway Station

    In the morning, explore the Jaisalmer Fort, also known as the Sonar Quila, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn about its history and architecture as you walk through the narrow streets and visit the Jain temples. Take in the stunning views of the city from the Fort's ramparts. For lunch, head to the nearby Dhanraj Bhatia Sweets & Snacks for some delicious local cuisine. In the afternoon, visit the Patwon Ki Haveli, which is a collection of five havelis. Admire the intricate carvings and paintings on the walls and ceilings. In the evening, go for a camel ride in the Sam Sand Dunes and watch the sunset over the desert.

  2. Day 2: Gadisar Lake and Bada Bagh
    15 minutes (5 km) from Jaisalmer Fort

    Start your day by visiting the Gadisar Lake, a man-made lake surrounded by temples and ghats. Take a boat ride and enjoy the serene atmosphere. For lunch, head to the Trio Restaurant and try their delicious tandoori dishes. In the afternoon, visit the Bada Bagh, a garden complex with cenotaphs of the royal family of Jaisalmer. Admire the stunning architecture and the serene environment. In the evening, head to the Kuldhara Village, a ghost village that has remained abandoned for more than 200 years. Experience the eerie silence and mysterious history of this place.

Other local attractions worth considering are the Thar Heritage Museum, Salim Singh Ki Haveli, and the Jain Temples. You could also plan a side trip to the Khuri Sand Dunes or the Desert National Park.
