Two-Day Itinerary for Wayand in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    30 minutes (10 miles) from Kalpetta

    Start your day early and head over to the Edakkal Caves, which are a group of natural caves located in a beautiful valley. These caves house paintings and engravings that are believed to be over 10,000 years old. Take a guided tour to learn more about the history and significance of these ancient artworks. Afternoon, head over to Pookode Lake, a freshwater lake surrounded by lush greenery and offering boat rides. Finally, visit the Banasura Sagar Dam in the evening, which is the largest earthen dam in India.

  2. Day 2: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 15 minutes (27 miles) from Kalpetta

    Start your day early and head over to Chembra Peak, which is the highest peak in Wayand. This trek will take most of your day, but the views from the top are worth it. Afternoon, visit the Wayand Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to several endangered and rare species of flora and fauna. In the evening, visit the Soochipara Falls, which is a three-tiered waterfall surrounded by dense forests.
