If you have extra time, visit the Umiam Lake, Elephant Falls, and Laitlum Canyon. You can also plan a day trip to the Mawphlang Sacred Forest or the Balpakram National Park. To maximize your fun, try the local cuisine, such as the Jadoh (rice and meat) and Dohneiiong (pork with black sesame seeds). Don't forget to buy the traditional Khasi shawls and bamboo handicrafts as souvenirs.
