4-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Ujjain in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit the Mahakaleshwar Temple
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Ujjain Junction Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the most famous and revered Hindu temples in India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is considered one of the twelve Jyotirlingams, which are believed to be the most sacred lingams in Hinduism. After lunch, visit the Kal Bhairav Temple, situated near the Mahakaleshwar Temple. In the evening, head to the Ram Ghat, where you can witness the aarti ceremony on the banks of the Shipra River.

  2. Day 2: Explore the Vedha Shala Observatory and Sandipani Ashram
    20 minutes (2.5 miles) from Mahakaleshwar Temple

    In the morning, visit the Vedha Shala Observatory, which was built in the 17th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur. It is one of the five observatories built by him across India. After lunch, visit the Sandipani Ashram, which is a spiritual and educational centre. Lord Krishna is said to have received his education here. In the evening, head to the Kaliadeh Palace, which is located on the banks of the Shipra River.

  3. Day 3: Sightseeing at the Harsiddhi Temple and Vikram Kirti Mandir
    15 minutes (1.9 miles) from Vedha Shala Observatory

    In the morning, visit the Harsiddhi Temple, which is dedicated to the goddess Annapurna. It is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths in India. After lunch, visit the Vikram Kirti Mandir, which is a museum dedicated to the life and achievements of King Vikramaditya. In the evening, head to the Mangalnath Temple, which is located on a hill and is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

  4. Day 4: Fun-filled day at the Raja Bhau Mahakal Udhyan and Nanakheda Stadium
    20 minutes (2.3 miles) from Vikram Kirti Mandir

    In the morning, visit the Raja Bhau Mahakal Udhyan, which is a beautiful park spread over 65 acres. It has a musical fountain, a Japanese garden, and a children's play area. After lunch, head to the Nanakheda Stadium, which is a multi-purpose stadium and is the home ground of the Madhya Pradesh cricket team. In the evening, go for shopping at the Freeganj Market, which is known for its handloom textiles and handicrafts.
